MEET OUR STAFF
“There should be a better way. People with medical concerns need a little help to exercise. They need somewhere to go when the medical care ends. Let’s create a place in the community where seniors and individuals with mobility challenges can exercise in a safe and supported way. A place to be cheered on and to be a cheerleader for others. Let’s stop the revolving door of healthcare and create a real chance for long term healing. Let’s Bridge the Gap.” – Kayla West
Kayla West, PT
Kayla West, PT is the founder and owner of PT Gym LLC and KWest Physical Therapy, PLLC. She has over two decades of experience as a Physical Therapist in the McKinney area. She is a graduate of the OU Health Sciences Center. Kayla has spent her career treating individuals as they recover from falls, surgeries, strokes, critical illnesses, amputations, degenerative disorders, dementia, Covid-19 respiratory failure, and many other situations. She has a special love for geriatrics, neuro, spine, and vestibular rehab. Kayla, like many therapists, experienced the “revolving door” of therapy where patients progressed toward and met functional goals in therapy only to be discharged home to decline once their “formal” exercise stopped. Kayla began to dream of a better system and to look at the therapy world through new eyes. No amount of education in a home exercise program was enough for the typical patient to thrive at home. Not much could replace that face-to-face dedication, relationship, and accountability that was achieved in those weekly therapy sessions. Unfortunately, insurance limitations, recent Medicare cuts, and the burden of justifying progress and medical necessity often dictate the number of sessions that a patient may receive. Thus, the PT Gym concept was born – a place where that same person can achieve their goals and then maintain their fitness goals indefinitely with no cut-off date in a safe and supervised but non-clinical way.
Kayla is specially trained in the FST myofascial stretching method and is also offering individual stretch sessions.
Kayla takes continuing education seriously and has recently attended training for vestibular rehab, cervical manual therapy, FST™ level 2, and yogahab™ to enhance her therapy skills. Kayla is also certified as a Group Fitness Instructor
Kayla is the mother of 3 which she considers to be her most precious title, but she is more than proud to add business owner to her accomplishments.
